Prefects Investiture

Prefects' Investiture 2017

On 25th January 2017, we welcomed a new batch of prefects to our Student Leadership fraternity. As we celebrated their appointment as prefects of our school, they were reminded of the meaning of leadership from a quote by Jim Fargo, “Leadership is service, not position.”

In his speech, Mr Michel Saw introduced Robert K. Greenleaf's term 'Servant Leadership'-

“The servant leader is servant first. It begins with the natural feeling that one wants to serve, to serve first. Then conscious choice brings one to aspire to lead. The best test is: Do those served grow as persons? Do they, while being served, become healthier, wiser, freer, more autonomous, more likely themselves to become servants? And, what is the effect on the least privileged in society? Will they benefit or at least not be further deprived?”

This concept of servant leadership focuses on the fact that a leader must always begin with others in mind, and is closely related to some of the MICE-E principles.

Welcome onboard prefects! We believe that all Edgefielders can be counted on to do the right thing and touch lives

Prefects' Investiture 2016

On the 27th of January 2016, Edgefield Primary School welcomed 32 new Primary 4 Prefects into our Student Leadership fraternity.

Aside from being the first batch of Prefects to don the new Prefects' attire consisting of a cream oxford shirt and a maroon tie, these Prefects were also the first to be selected through a new and improved selection process.

This process required Prefect nominees to go through a series of stations like guiding a blind-folded team-mate using only verbal cues to display their communication skills and envisioning the materials they would need to survive on an island to showcase their critical thinking skills.

In his speech during the Investiture, our Principal Mr Michel Saw called on all Prefects to champion the EDGE by reflecting on their Experiences to learn lessons in order to help them Develop skills and Grow their heart so they may Empower others to do the same.

Congratulations Prefects, and may you have a fulfilling learning experience serving Edgefield Primary School!
