21^st Century Competencies: A Key Direction for the EFPS Total Curriculum

Every Edgefielder learns beyond the classroom

At Edgefield Primary School, every student from Primary 1 to Primary 6 takes part in the E.D.G.E. Signature Programme (ESP) — 22 hands-on modules across seven exciting domains, from coding and drama to sports and community projects.
E.D.G.E. stands for Experience, Develop, Grow and Empower.
Whether your child loves to build, perform, move, write, or serve the community, ESP gives them the chance to discover their strengths, stretch themselves, and celebrate their growth — every year, at every level.

Six domains, one journey

Every student experience all seven domains as they progress from P1 to P6:

How the programme works

All students, all levels. ESP is a compulsory, structured co-curricular experience woven into school life from P1 to P6 — no sign-ups needed, no one left out.

Tiered progression. Modules move from exploration in the lower primary years to deeper mastery in the upper years, so the programme grows with your child and supports learners of every ability.

Students own their learning. Through ipsative assessment — where each child measures progress against their own past performance rather than against classmates — students set goals, reflect on their growth, and take charge of their learning journey.

Recognition and portfolios. Students build a personal portfolio capturing their development and contributions across the seven domains, and earn recognition and certification along the way.

The ESP Showcase. Each term culminates in a showcase where students present their projects and celebrate their growth with peers, teachers and parents.

Grounded in MOE's 21st Century Competencies framework

The E.D.G.E. Signature Programme is EFPS's way of bringing the Ministry of Education's 21^st Century Competencies (21CC) framework to life. The framework has three layers:

1. Core Values — Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, Integrity, Care, Harmony

2. Social-Emotional Competencies — Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Management, Responsible Decision-Making

3. Emerging 21st Century Competencies — Critical, Adaptive and Inventive Thinking; Communication, Collaboration and Information Skills; Civic, Global and Cross-Cultural Literacy

Each ESP domain is intentionally designed to cultivate specific values, habits and competencies, so that every Edgefielder graduates as a confident, compassionate and capable individual — ready to navigate life with purpose and contribute meaningfully to society.
