Total Defence Day 2026
Total Defence Day is commemorated annually in Singapore on 15 February. Edgefield Primary began this year’s commemoration on 13 February with a simulated cyberattack during the Assembly Programme. Through this engaging experience, students learnt about the importance of the six pillars of Total Defence, particularly Digital Defence, which was introduced in 2019 and has become increasingly relevant in our daily lives.
During recess, students participated in a variety of meaningful activities. They coloured six beautifully designed bookmarks, played interactive iPad games, and took part in a Treasure Hunt incorporating elements of Mathematics and Science. Through activities such as identifying secure passwords and answering questions about the six pillars of Total Defence, students discovered how they can contribute to keeping Singapore safe, regardless of their age.
These experiences helped to strengthen our students’ sense of citizenship, foster unity and build resilience. Together, we can keep Singapore strong!

International Friendship Day 2026
Edgefield Primary commemorated International Friendship Day (IFD) on 10 April 2026, in conjunction with English Language Week. Anchored on the theme “Friendships Through Stories,” the celebration brought together English Language Week’s “Read It. Wear It. Be It.” and IFD’s “Singapore: Forging Friendships in a Complex World.”
Edgefielders brought their favourite stories to life by dressing as beloved book characters. During recess, students enjoyed a range of engaging activities, including striking creative poses at the 360-degree photo booth, designing personalised badges, exploring stories at the mobile library and sharing encouraging messages with one another.
Through these meaningful experiences, students discovered how stories and language can connect people across different cultures and backgrounds. The celebration encouraged them to appreciate diversity, care for others and build positive relationships, contributing to a more inclusive and harmonious community in Singapore and beyond.
Racial Harmony Day 2025
Racial Harmony Day is commemorated on 24 July to remind us of the importance of preserving the racial and religious harmony that Singapore enjoys today. This year’s theme, “Our People, Our Tapestry,” highlights how our diverse cultures, traditions and experiences are interwoven to form the rich tapestry of our nation.
At Edgefield Primary, students and staff came dressed in colorful traditional attire and participated in a meaningful assembly programme. Students also enjoyed cultural activities such as playing sepak takraw and designing their own Racial Harmony Day badges.
Through these engaging experiences, students developed a deeper appreciation for Singapore’s multicultural heritage and learnt the importance of respecting differences, challenging stereotypes and building genuine friendships across cultures. Together, we can continue to strengthen the bonds that unite us as one people.

Edgefielders came together for a vibrant celebration featuring performances, National Day songs and meaningful activities that strengthened their sense of belonging and appreciation for Singapore. The theme encouraged everyone to keep moving forward, care for one another and contribute to our nation.
Together, let us go beyond for Singapore. Majulah Singapura!
National Day marks our separation from Malaysia in 1965, and our emergence as an independent country in a community of nations. The school-based commemoration brings to students a sense of the historical importance and solemnity of National Day.
