Young Speaker Spotlight 2026

Every great speaker begins with the courage to take the first step.

Selected as finalists through Edgefield Primary School’s Speak Up! 2026, our young speakers went on to proudly represent the school at the YMCA Plain English Speaking Awards 2026. Through their speeches, they shared meaningful ideas with confidence, sincerity and authenticity, while embracing the values of plain English: clarity, personal voice, aptness, sincerity and engagement.

Their journey is a reminder that every opportunity to speak is an opportunity to learn, grow and inspire others. We are immensely proud of the dedication, resilience and confidence they demonstrated throughout the experience.

Outstanding Performance: Top 3 in East Zone for Wits & Words Debate Competition

We are proud to share that Edgefield Primary School has been recognised as one of the Top 3 schools in the East Zone (Division 1) for outstanding performance in the Wits & Words Debate Competition 2025. This national platform aims to develop the oral communication skills of verbally talented pupils, while nurturing critical thinking, research abilities, and confidence in persuasive speaking.

 Our debate team demonstrated poise, clarity of thought, and strong argumentative skills throughout the competition. This recognition affirms our school’s ongoing commitment to developing articulate, thoughtful, and confident learners.

Creative Writing Programme

Congratulations to Student Pranaya Arun Pirakash for being selected to join MOE’s Creative Writing Programme, designed to nurture budding young writers in Primary 5. Her writing was recognised for its creativity and insight, and published in Mementoes 2020, a special collection featuring imaginative tales, reflective pieces, and playful experiments with literary forms by students across the nation.

 We are proud of our students’ creative efforts and the authentic voices they shared through their writing.
